Frond

IMG_9635Frond refers to the leaf of a fern, a cycad, or a palm. It originates at the rhizome, or stem that grows horizontally underground, and has a stalk that supports the blade. The blade is the chlorophyll-rich, main part of the frond. The frond bears sori, clusters of spore-producing structures, and is specially adapted to capture light and perform photosynthesis.
