Pollen

Pollen

A grain of pollen is a structure that contains the male gametophyte in seed plants. They transfer sperm to egg- producing parts of the plant. Pollen is carried passively by wind or animals. These are called pollinators. Pollen grains develop from spores. Furthermore, in pine trees, mature pollen cones release clouds of pollens. Pollination occurs when pollen grains land on or enter an ovule.
