Modified root of a plant

Carrots are an example of a modified tap root of a plant. In carrot plants roots are used to reserve food. Roots are modified to provide extra support for a plant or to store food and water. In dry regions, some plants produce huge water storage roots because of their lack of rainfall or a source of water. Other roots are modified to store food and water.
