C4 Plant

image

A C4 plant is a plant that first uses the C4 carbon fixation pathway where the CO2 is first bound to a phosphoenolpyruvate resulting in the formation of a four carbon compound, and then that compound is sent to the bundle sheath cell where it goes through the C3 carbon fixation pathway. In this picture there is sugar. Sugar comes from sugarcane which is a C4 plant.
