Adaptation of a plant

Plants adapt over time to their environment and the conditions of where they must live. Aloe vera, like the one in this photo, have adapted over time to habitats with low amounts of water. Aloe vera plants have thick leaves that enlarge to store water, and a waxy cuticle to prevent water loss. Aloe vera plants can also use CAM (crustacean acid metabolism), which helps them survive in arid areas.
