Epithelial Tissue

Epithelial tissue covers or lines all the external and internal surfaces of the body. Their cells are packed so closely together that there is barely any intercellular space between the cells. Epithelial tissue can be classified as simple having only one layer or stratified where it has two or more layers. Simple Epithelium can also be described as squamous, columnar, cuboidal, or glandular. This tissue functions in protection, absorption, secretion, sensation, and diffusion.
