K-strategists are species of organisms that use a survival and reproductive strategy that includes low fertility and mortality, and usually have longer lives. Populations of k-strategists expand to the maximum number of individuals that the habitat can support (or the carrying capacity). K-strategists are usually highly adapted to their environment and can compete successfully for food and resources. They have relatively long life spans.
