Hydrophobic

Hydrophobic

The image above shows a toy that uses hydrophobic, dyed oil, and water to create an amusing invention. The blue and red drops are dyed oil, and like most oils, are non-polar. like most non-polar solutions, they wont dilute in water, and instead are repelled by it. The droplets in the toy do not mix with the water all around them, and instead follow gravity until they mix with the other non-polar oil sitting at the bottom of the toy.
