Hydrophilic

Soap is amphipathic, meaning it possesses both hydrophilic and lipophilic properties. Soap is composed of a hydrophilic head and a hydrophobic tail, a similar structure to phospholipids. The hydrophilic portion is attracted to water and can be dissolved by water.
