Meristem

This tissue contains undifferentiated cells found in zones where growth can take place in plants. Meristematic cells give rise to a plethora of organs of the plant and also keep the plant growing. There are two parts to the meristem. The Shoot Apical Meristem and the Root Apical Meristem. The SAM will give rise to organs like flowers and leaves. The RAM divides rapidly and it is considered to be indeterminate because it does not posses any identified end fate. The cells of the meristem are able to divide their cells continually. These cells are completely filled with protoplasm and they are small. The sunflower has a ton of meristem on its flower.
