Tropism

The plant in the picture above has undergone a biological phenomenon known as tropism. This occurs when a plant must respond to an environmental stimulus and grow in a different directon (in the picture shown above the plant has curved to the right). The plant grows in the direction in response to the stimulus. Though tropism is usually referred to mainly in plants, it is not restricted in them. Tropism can occur in any organism that allows directed physical movement.
