Hydrophobic

Hydrophobic

A hydrophobic molecule, translated as water fearing(or pertaining to water fearing if you want to be pedantic),is one which by virtue of its lack of polarized charge disassociates with and is repelled by water.Hydrophobic substances, neutrally charged, have useful real-world applications, such as in the isolation/stratification of water from other non-polar molecules/compounds in chemical mixes. Olive oil is a common, hydrophobic substance.
