K-strategists have common growth patterns. They usually have large bodies with long juvenile periods. Their original population increases exponentially but it then stabilizes around a maximum value. They have a small population size but it is stable. They have stable environments with a diverse ecology. K-strategists choose their mate and live in pairs. They make large investments and have parental care over their offspring which are not many. The offspring of K-strategists are born very dependent on their parents and stay with them for a long period of time. They later become mature and choose their mate. Examples of K-strategists would be humans, oak trees, and elephants.
