Hydrophilic

When a substance is said to be hydrophilic it means that it is “water loving”. When something hydrophilic is mixed with water it will dissolve in it. Sugar is pictured above because once it is mixed with water it will eventually dissolve. Sugar contains polar hydroxyl groups that helps it dissolve in the water.
