Parenchyma Cells


Parenchyma cells are cells that are the “typical” plant cell. In these cells is where metabolism mostly occurs. These cells are the cells that are most abundant in all plants. In the leaves of a plant, the parenchyma cells act as photosynthetic cells. These cells are the only ones found in apical meristems and are the only ones that go through mitotic division. Throughout the different parts of the plant parenchyma cells are used for different purposes.
