Basidiomycete

Basidiomycetes are one of the two large phyla that make up the subkingdom Dikarya. Examples include mushrooms, puffballs, rusts, mirror yeasts etc… Basidiomycetes are filamentous fungi composed of hyphae, and they reproduce through specialized club-shaped ends called basidia. These organisms can reproduce sexually and/or asexually. The hyphae of the basidiomycetes are said to be dikaryotic
