Recessive Phenotype vs Dominant

My sister’s blue/grey eyes are a recessive phenotype, compared to the dominant brown eyes phenotype. In order for a recessive phenotype to be exhibited, the recessive gene must take control of the DNA over the dominant phenotype. For this to happen, the genotype must be homozygous for the recessive allele.
