Different types of carbohydrates: Sucrose

A carbohydrate is a sugar, or one of its dimers, or polymers (monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides). Carbohydrates serve as fuel and building material. Sucrose is a disaccharide, (which consists of two monosaccharides joined by a covalent bond), which is table sugar. Sucrose is made up of glucose and fructose.
