Endosperm

Endosperm

The photo above is of a seed from a nearby flowering tree. Inside the seed is a tissue called endosperm, which composites a great portion of the inside of the seed. The endosperm is made up of starch and provides nutrition to the young plant embryo inside. The plant embryo will absorb it as it develops, similar to how chicken embryos absorb the yolk of the egg while they develop inside it.
