Unicellular organism

This picture is of a body of water covered in algae. There are many different types of algae, but this is of unicellular algae. They are typically autotrophic and use the sunlight to create energy. Algae lack structures found in land plants, but they have an enclosed nucleus and are eukaryotes. Unicellular algae reproduce through asexual cell division.
