Anther and filament of stamen

The stamen of a plant contains typically contains both an anther and a filament. This is the pollen producing reproductive organ of the plant. The filament is the stalk shown above within the plant’s stamen and the anther (which has fallen off) is further attached to the filament. The typical anther contains the diploid mother pollen cells for the pollinator to acquire and pollinate.
