Skin is the most common example of epithelial tissue. Epithelial tissue covers the whole entire body of an animal. Epithelial tissue also forms glands. The function of epithelial tissue is to protect the body, selectively absorb, secrete, transport objects transcellularly, and give the feeling of sensation. The cells within the epithelium are very densely packed, leaving very little intercellular space.
