A lipid is a fat that is composed of fatty acids. They are a major source of energy for body. Some other functions of lipids in body are heat production, isolation and protection. Lipids are also a large and major part of the cell membrane in many animals. One more thing about lipids is that they contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen; elements that animals need to survive.
