Territorial Behavior

The ants shown above are exhibiting territorial behavior. As soon as I placed the card atop their ant pile, the ants began to swarm and attack the intruder. Territorial behavior is the method of which an organism will protect its territory from intrusions by other species. These ants bite and poison any foreigner that attempts to intrude their territory.
