Long-day Plant

Long-day Plant

During summer, when the days lengthen and the nights shorten, a long day plant exceeds its normal time exposed to the sun, and thus it flowers. Spinach is a long day plant because it begins to flower when the daylight lasts for a period of 13 hours or more. Other examples of long day plants are lettuce and potatoes.
