Plant Cuticle

Plant Cuticle

Produced by epidermal leaf cells, the cuticle layer of the leaf protects from powerful UV rays, allows for the storage of liquids (and prevents it from desiccating), and shields it away from any harmful physical and chemical exposure. This waxy covering can be seen on the leaf pictured above. It also has a very similar function to that of our skin.
